Dynamic Electromagnetic Brake Tester

The Dynamic Electromagnetic Brake Tester (DEBT) is purpose-built to give engineers clear, repeatable insight into how electromagnetic brakes perform under real operating conditions. In a controlled lab environment, the system uses a servo/gearbox drive paired with an inline torque transducer to capture two critical measurements: breakaway torque—the point where the brake shifts from static to dynamic—and running torque, the sustained torque the brake can hold at a defined RPM and temperature.

To support a wide range of brake types, DEBT is mechanically designed to measure torques from 0 Nm to 100 Nm, with most applications expected in the 10–50 Nm range. A robust 230V servo and gearbox provide reliable, consistent drive performance. The unit under test (UUT) is placed in a semi-enclosed, temperature-controlled chamber capable of maintaining conditions from ambient up to 100°C, helping engineers evaluate performance across realistic thermal scenarios. For operator safety, the chamber door is fully interlocked.

The software interface makes test setup straightforward. with operators simply selecting the desired chamber temperature. Once the machine reaches that setpoint, DEBT automatically initiates the test. This reduces manual steps, improves repeatability, and ensures every test is performed under consistent thermal conditions.
