Ball Systems designed, built, and validated a fully automated production test system that exercises the Gen5/6 Transmission Control Modules across their complete electrical and communication interface, including from analog and digital I/O through CAN bus and relay-switched load simulation.
The system is built around an 18-slot, 3U PXI/PXIe chassis, with scope of supply spanning hardware design, mechanical and electrical documentation, and custom National Instruments (NI) LabVIEW test software. Each unit ships internationally in a purpose-built crate, backed by an uninterruptible 5kVA power supply for continuous, protected test operation.
System Specification
This system is built on a PXI/PXIe platform housed in an 18-slot, 3U chassis, sized to support the full instrumentation and switching load without compromising airflow or serviceability. Custom LabVIEW software drives the test sequencing, giving the customer a platform that's both robust out of the box and straightforward to modify as requirements evolve. Communication is handled over CAN and RS-422/485, matching the protocols already in use on the unit under test. At the same time, a PXIe relay matrix manages signal switching with the density and reliability high-mix testing demands. A 5kVA UPS keeps the system running clean through power events, and the unit ships internationally in a protective crate, built to arrive ready to install — not ready to repair.

Scope of Supply
Ball Systems owns the full lifecycle of this build, start to finish. That begins with hardware design and specification, followed by complete electrical and mechanical documentation so the system is fully traceable and easy to support long after it leaves our floor. Our engineers handle LabVIEW software development in-house, then move into system integration and build, where mechanical, electrical, and software come together under one roof. Every system goes through factory test and validation before it ships, confirming it performs to spec under real operating conditions so there are no surprises once it's on-site. We close out the project with customer training, making sure the team running the system day to day understands it as well as we do.
Ball Systems creates, develops, and delivers custom test systems and produces comprehensive build-to-print systems for companies that craft or manufacture critical electronic or electromechanical components for aerospace and defense, automotive, and consumer appliance applications.
