Wireless Sensor Tester Prototype

Inner2

Ball Systems developed a prototype wireless sensor test system intended to measure rotor flex and other dynamic properties directly from the tip of a helicopter blade. The goal was to demonstrate how a sensor could transmit accurate structural and motion data while in rotation, enabling more efficient testing of rotor performance and health monitoring.

To validate the concept, Ball Systems engineered a “helicopter table”—a specialized motion platform that simulated rotor dynamics in a controlled environment. Although the full in-flight implementation faced technical limitations, the prototype successfully proved key functionality on a smaller scale. The project provided valuable insights into wireless data acquisition, sensor integration, and high-motion test environments.
