Company Value: Self-Employed Mentality

On Oct 30, 2017

At Ball Systems, we believe that our values are critical to our own success, and also our ability to effectively serve our customers. Each month during our all-hands company meeting we discuss two or three of our core values to help keep them top of mind for our team members. This week I want to focus on our “Self-Employed Mentality” value, what it means to us as a company and how it positively impacts our customers.

What this means to us: We strive to have mentality that we own the place; that this isn’t just a J-O-B. This means making decisions as if each team member were an owner and sacrificing oneself for the betterment of the organization. Andy and I instill in our team members the importance of making good financial and business decisions that drive both short and long-term profits, customer loyalty, and teamwork. We all work together to take care of our facilities. And if we are really thinking about being “self-employed”, we also recognize the importance of how we’re perceived on and off the job.

What this means to our customers: At the end of the day, we want team members who are as passionate about what we do as Andy and I are as owners of the business. This means looking out for the company, for each other, and importantly, for our customers.  We firmly believe that team members who are effectively engaged will make the best decisions rather than just going through the motions. This empowered servant attitude exhibits itself daily in our customer interactions, and we see the results of that customer care in our bottom line.
